Description
The University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering is seeking candidates for two tenure-track faculty positions with research interests in the broad areas of operations research and industrial engineering.
Research areas of interest can include, but are not limited to:
- Supply chain modeling, management and design
- AI-enabled modeling and design for service operations, manufacturing, or health care
- Healthcare/manufacturing/ service system modeling and operations management
- Novel methods and algorithms for decision making and optimization
- Methods and algorithms for developing AI models under novel objectives and constraints (e.g. safety, impartiality)
- System-level modeling and operations optimization for smart and connected systems
- System improvement through human factors engineering and sociotechnical design
Candidates are encouraged to highlight the practical relevance and impact of the methodologies they developed. University and professional service will be expected as appropriate, including participating in interdisciplinary and collaborative efforts with other departments, schools and colleges.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses and contributing to curriculum updates and innovations to educate a diverse student body; mentoring graduate students and supervising their research; developing and directing a well-recognized and extramurally funded research program; participating in departmental and university faculty governance; contributing to professional and public service; participating in interdisciplinary and collaborative efforts with other departments, schools, and colleges.
