About the Position


This position aims to coordinate and lead a team responsible for strategy, service planning, asset management, and capital investment for the City's ocean beaches.


Key Deliverables of the position:

  • Provide expert advice, exercise initiative, engage stakeholders, prepare reports, policies, correspondence and facilitate meetings relating to service plans and delivery.
  • Provide leadership, ensure adherence to governance and program management methods, and foster partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the investigation and timely response to concerns regarding ocean beaches services, projects and assets.
  • Manage capital and operational plans and emerging challenges/technology in beach infrastructure planning and coastal engineering solutions, ensuring infrastructure and services are aligned, affordable and deliverable.
  • Develop, manage and report on plans and budgets for Council endorsement and ensure adherence to corporate requirements.
  • Lead and coach project managers, technical experts and stakeholders, taking responsibility and accountability for program integration and delivery.
  • Manage knowledge and information for beach assets ensuring corporate data is captured, maintained, informs investment and meets legislative requirements.
  • Provide expert advice on analysis and interpretation of coastal data and monitoring, asset management plans, technical reports and presentations to inform future service planning and delivery.

About You

  • You have experience in leading, managing and mentoring a diverse and high performing team.
  • You can coach a team to deliver a quality service to customers and understand and react responsively to expectations.
  • You are committed to modelling positive leadership behaviours and continuing professional development.
  • You have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to deliver practical, concise responses to critical issues associated with management and strategic planning for City's ocean beaches.
  • You have high-level management skills with the ability to analyse, develop and coordinate complex strategies, policies, programs, projects and resources effectively to achieve planning and investment outcomes for the City's ocean beaches.
  • You have experience in program management with the ability to develop, lead and manage program delivery.

About City Assets branch 

  • Infrastructure Asset Custodian for transport, drainage and foreshore facilities.
  • Custodians of over $12 billion worth of assets including, but not limited to approximately, 3200 kilometres of road, 2500 kilometres of drainage pipe, 100 boat ramps, 20 jetties, 3 dams, 130 lakes, 400 kilometres of constructed canals and 52 kilometres of beaches.
  • Coordinates and delivers strategic and tactical asset management planning, asset information and data management and contributed asset review and acceptance functions for the Directorate. 

About Transport and Infrastructure directorate


The Transport and Infrastructure directorate is ultimately here to deliver quality infrastructure and services aligned with the broader organisation's vision and purpose. The Directorate consists of asset custodians, service providers and business support roles that contribute to the overall management, delivery and maintenance of quality infrastructure and services.
