The Global Supply Manager for Total Cost will lead and manage the efforts for the analysis and action related to cost improvement for the Global Strategic Supply Team. This role will be responsible for managing initiatives as well as performing end to end total cost analysis including supplier parts, transportation, mfg. labor and overhead, inventory and distribution costs. This role will become the cost of goods sold and project management expert for the Tennant Global Strategic Supply team.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Global Supply Total Cost Manager will lead the team responsible for managing and tracking the cost improvement objectives, projects and results for Tennant Company to meet specified goals.
Lead a global team of project engineers with the purpose of driving and delivering total cost projects.
Oversee the execution of key cost reduction projects that utilize appropriate design tools and processes
Keep up to date on engineering techniques, processes and best practices
Utilize lean tools and processes for Total Cost Management project organization and reporting
Provide analysis and information regarding the total COGS (Cost of Goods Sold) Profit and Loss Statement line for each business unit / region
Develop and define Total Cost Management oversight (Executive) and working (steering) committees that drive the organization to achieve total cost savings goals.
Develop and deliver total cost reports that provide in-depth information on end to end business costs including warranty and quality
Develop and maintain the Total Cost Calculation tool that is used to evaluate the cost effectiveness / validity of all Total Cost projects and initiatives. Establish training modules and sessions to ensure proper usage.
Collaborate with customer facing functions to identify cost / margin challenged finished goods and purchased finished goods and provide path to improvement
Lead the Tennant Global Total Cost Team and host events that provide ideas / inputs to the Total Cost Management System Funnel
Manage the funnel stage gates and develop a mechanism that enables an on-going effort that continually adds ideas with the goal of maintaining 1.5 – 2x of Total Annual Savings goals
Provide calculated cost saving metrics for Global Supply and other relevant function bowling charts.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from ABET accredited institution with 4-6 years of related experience OR Master’s Degree, with a minimum of 3 years of related experience
Project management skills/knowledge required
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
CAD modeling skills (preferably Unigraphics, or Solidworks)
High degree of mechanical aptitude
Financial modeling and analysis
Experience in Manufacturing (desired)
MS Office, SAP or related ERP experience
Knowledge and exposure to the concepts of Material flow
Experience and knowledge working with regulatory issues, commodity markets, and currency
Lean / Toyota Production System (TPS) experience preferred
