GirlTREK is seeking a motivated and talented Software Engineer to join our technology team. In this role, you will be responsible for:
Maintaining and improving our mobile application, GirlTREK Underground, built with Flutter.
Developing and maintaining microsites to support various strategic initiatives, likely using Elemental.
Co-creating and prototyping concepts that emerge from our deeply collaborative and ambitious team.
You will be the first full-time and in-house software engineer on our growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced developer focused on social impact or someone early in their career to grow and develop their skills in a supportive and fast-paced environment.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and Improve Mobile Applications:
Support and improve our existing mobile app built with Flutter.
Collaborate with our external software development team, as we build in-house capacity and expertise.
Troubleshoot and debug issues reported by users.
Implement new features and updates based on user feedback and business needs.
Collaborate with designers and product managers to ensure the app meets design specifications and user needs.
Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:
Work with other developers, designers, and stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.
Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to bring new ideas to the team.
Represent GirlTREK Online and at Community Events:
Model the mission and represent the organization online and in-person as a member of the national staff
Participate in community walks and related GirlTREK events
Serve as an ambassador for GirlTREK online and at such events
Who You Are
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience with Flutter and Dart for mobile app development.
Familiarity with web development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
Basic understanding of responsive design principles.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Elemental or similar microsite building tools.
Knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git.
